Prof. Dr. Kanbur was a faculty member of the Department of Pediatrics and Division of Adolescent Medicine at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Türkiye (2000-2021). Dr. Kanbur completed her clinical fellowship of Adolescent Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children at the University of Toronto, Canada (2007-2009). Dr. Kanbur is the co-founder of the Ph.D. Program of Adolescent Health and Medicine under the Institute of Child Health at Hacettepe University (2004). She also co-founded the Turkish Society of Adolescent Health. She joined the Division of Adolescent Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), University of Ottawa, Canada in 2021.

Dr. Kanbur is the President of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM). Fostering international collaboration, moving forward on gender equality and training adolescent health professionals and building a future global adolescent health workforce are among her prioritized presidential goals at SAHM.

She is a member of the Strategic and Technical Advisory Group of Experts (STAGE) for Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (MNCAHN) at World Health Organization (WHO).

She is active in research and published in various areas of adolescent health and medicine. She is a well-recognized clinician, researcher, educator and advocate in the field of adolescent health and medicine.
