Instructions for Writing a Scientific Abstract

Length:

Maximum 200 words or 1.300 characters without spaces.

Use clear, concise, and formal scientific language.

Structure:

  1. Title – concise and informative, without abbreviations.
  2. Authors – list the full names (first name and last name) of all authors.
  3. Affiliations – indicate the institutional affiliation of each author.
    • Example: Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Slovenia.
    • If authors are from different institutions, use superscript numbers (¹, ²) to link names and affiliations.
  4. Abstract text – should be written in a single paragraph and include the following sections:
    • Background / Introduction: briefly state the context and aim of the study.
    • Methods: summarize the design, participants, and main procedures.
    • Results: present the key findings succinctly.
    • Conclusion: outline the main implications or significance of the findings.
  5. Keywords: list 3 – 5 keywords, separated by commas.

Additional recommendations:

  • Do not include tables, figures, or references.
  • Write in full sentences, not bullet points.
  • Avoid excessive detail or repetition.
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and proper scientific terminology.
