Slovenian Association for School, Student and Adolescent Medicine of the Slovenian Medical Association

Dear Colleagues,

“Stronger Together” is the title of the congress we will host in September 2026 in Portorož, a beautiful Slovenian seaside town.

The congress brings together organizers from four different institutions with the shared goal of improving the recognition of health challenges and strengthening the importance of adolescent and student health – a generation navigating the transition from adolescence to adulthood. This population, now more than ever, reflects the rapid changes of the modern world: from the pervasive use of digital technologies and social media to environmental influences, including climate change and pollution. All these factors significantly shape their lifestyles, affect their health, and ultimately influence the future of our society.

Since education is one of the defining characteristics of this stage of life, understanding the impact of the educational system on health is of crucial importance. This makes collaboration between the health and education sectors even more essential.

In recognition of the importance of such collaboration, the congress brings together two international associations focused on youth health: EUSUHM, which will hold its 23rd Congress, and IAAH, hosting its 24th European Regional Conference. In parallel, two national events will also take place: the 9th Congress of the Section for School, Student and Adolescent Medicine of the Slovenian Medical Association, and the 9th Congress of the Slovenian Society of Paediatrics.

We warmly invite you to join us – through active contributions, engaging discussions, and the sharing of expertise – and help shape a healthier future for adolescents and students.

See you in Portorož, Slovenia!

Breda Prunk Franetič, president of Slovenian Association for School, Student and Adolescent Medicine of the Slovenian Medical Association
